Human roles affected
What it replaces or reduces
- Software engineer
- QA / test engineer
- Code reviewer
Why this autonomy level: Executes edits, shell commands and git operations itself. Per the permissions docs, Manual mode asks before Bash commands (except built-in read-only ones) and before file modifications; other permission modes and CI/scheduled runs reduce per-action prompts, but output normally lands as commits or pull requests that a human reviews.
Supported workflows
What it can execute
- Implement features and bug fixes across multiple files from a plain-language description
- Write tests, run them and fix failures
- Stage changes, write commit messages, create branches and open pull requests
- Automate PR review and issue triage in GitHub Actions or GitLab CI/CD
- Run recurring tasks on a schedule (e.g. overnight CI failure analysis, weekly dependency audits) via cloud Routines
- Turn a bug report posted in Slack into a pull request
